The Cape Region sees the Confirmation
of about 4000 in 2008

According to the Church’s records the Cape Region has witnessed the confirmation of approximately 4000 confirmands and this year’s confirmation was even more special as it was celebrated on the very same day Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead – Easter Sunday. The festivity of this day was felt in all congregations but Gelvandale’s celebration was exceptional as this congregation along with the Malabar congregation – both in the Arcadia Bishop area – were served by District Apostle NE Barnes from the Gelvandale church hall.

The basis for this divine service and especially for the confirmands was taken out of the book of Psalms 118:24-25 "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity."

This gathering – 762 members – stood as witnesses as the 17, among which were the daughters of Apostle G Mintoor and Bishop L Vaaltein, confirmands pledged their lives to the Almighty.  During this service the district Apostle urged these youngsters to give their hearts to the Lord so that they could experience wonderful things into the future. The confirmands should rejoice because; they have been incorporated into the work of God already in young years and they have deeper spiritual insight than many adults.
