It was a festive occasion intertwined with traditional flare and New Apostolic faith as hundreds gathered to celebrate the dawn of a new beginning.
The auspicious occasion was the turning of the sod ceremony on the very site which will soon house the first ever church building to house our members in Khayelitsha.
Surrounded by the excited local members and many neighbours from the community, Apostle A Kriel led the ceremony which took place after the Sunday morning divine service on 6 November 2011. The service for the Departed took on further special significance for the members of Khayelitsha 1 & 3 as they remembered the pioneers and their ancestral linage and the work they performed in the past to add to making it possible for the these congregations to soon worship under one roof. Bishop A Lutuli added the festivities when he read the Bible text in Xhosa, the primary language of the majority of the members, echoing their sentiments with Psalm 84:4: “Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they will still be praising You.”
The joy and happiness were further enhanced by traditional dancing and singing as apostle, accompanied by Bishops A Schoeman, B Adonis and A Lutuli joined them the members in rhythm, dance and song. Festivities were concluded with a customary hearty meal and all were served with traditional delicacies fit for royalty.
