Absence makes the heart grow fonder

It is 12 long years since the District Apostle Barnes last served in the Kensington North congregation.

For the members there was much rejoicing when the planned visit was announced for 6 December 2009.
Excitedly they prepared both naturally and spiritually. This excitement was not reserved for the adult congregation only but lived in the hearts of the children also as they prepared greeting cards to present to the district apostle as a token of their love for him.
The young children lined the path leading to the sacristy with their greeting cards as they awaited the arrival of the district apostle on the second Sunday of Advent 2009. Apostle C van der Merwe, Bishops C Classen, P Kilian, N Warner and I Adams accompanied the district apostle at the service. The preparedness of the choir and congregation added to the heavenly atmosphere that culminated in a blessed divine hour. It was also during this divine service that Priest A Brown and Deacon F Petersen were placed into a well deserved retirement after serving a collective 61 years in the ministry.
