Valhalla Park District visits Lamberts Bay |
|
Lamberts Bay is a coastal town situated off the Atlantic Ocean and is sheltered from the sea by a rocky islet.
A group of the ministers from Valhalla Park district planned to visit the area where they would conduct divine services in the congregations of Lamberts Bay and Graafwater. The group arrived in Lamberts Bay on Saturday 10 October 2009. Later that day they enjoyed fellowship with the members from the congregations. On Sunday 11 October 2009 the joyful sounds generated by the singing of these brothers attracted their neighbours in the adjacent chalets who congregated on their doorsteps and cheered for an encore. After the divine service Deacon Pillay from Lavistown congregation donated a bicycle to a deacon of Lamberts Bay congregation whom he previously observed had to cover a great distance by foot to get to the church. This deacon explained that his fellow deacon who opens the church is older than him and has a further distance to travel. In addition, the wheels of this deacon’s bicycle had recently been stolen and now he has to walk to church. In a very moving gesture the deacon who had received the bicycle as a gift in turn gave it as a gift to his fellow deacon so that he can better execute his pastoral duties. This left the brethren and ministers alike with heartwarming emotions as they went their separate ways.
