Vrijzee Royals went up against Vasco Kings XI Punjab in the final of the VLP Cricket Challenge and the Royals took the cup.
That was the final result of a sports evening held by the youth of the Elsies River Bishop Area in Montague Gardens Sports Centre on Friday 5 June 2009.  

The Townsend Knight Riders made it as far as the semi-finals before they were bundled out of the game. Although the game itself was supposed to be the focus of energy, the cheering and booing that went on took more out of the spectators than the players and gave the evening the real feel of a cricket sports ground on the night of the big game.
