The residents and farmers in the Southern Cape are currently enduring the harshest recorded drought in 132 years.

For this reason the Sunday school teachers of the district of Pacaltsdorp took it upon themselves to educate the Sunday school children in the area about the usage and management of this renewable resource.

On Saturday 20 February 2010 the Sunday school children and their teachers visited the George Dam. The situation faced by the thousands of civilians in the area was realized when they witnessed the visibly low levels of water in what was once a mighty dam. The expedition was concluded with a prayer which echoed the sentiments of every heart in the area and that was for a mighty storm which would quench the thirst of the earth.
