Early Christmas cheer in Prince Albert

DSCF0578The mission workers group from Silversands district planned and prepared a week-end of cheer for the children and senior members of Prince Albert congregation that would commence on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November 2009.
At the crack of dawn the group, which included their District Elder A Jullies, made their way to the Karoo town at the foot of the Swartberg Pass. After a lengthy journey they enjoyed some free time to talk over the intense activity schedule that was in place for the next two days.
Saturday 21 December 2009 was designated solely to the Sunday school children and senior members of Prince Albert congregation. Across the road from where they had gathered the Saturday Market and Harvest festival was in commencement with the New Apostolic Church as the newcomers at the festival. There they performed a few anthems with the Mission and Vision statement proudly displayed beside them.
As the children arrived for breakfast there were shouts of excitement when they saw an inflated jumping castle. The seniors were later treated to a three course meal after which they receive packaged fruit and sweet treats. For the orchestra and choir members the day was nowhere near over with rehearsals for a concert to be presented to the members and their guests at Prince Albert congregation at 15:00. The Advent concert was a huge success awakening the festive spirit which was welcomed by all present.
Upon entering the congregation the resident members barely recognized the church hall as it was beautifully decorated with the Christmas theme. For the children the main attraction was however not the beautifully decorated tree but rather the shiny gifts wrapped and placed under it. After the divine service they lined up anxiously to unwrap the gifts that had been sent to them with love from the members of the Silversands district. Blessed moments and experiences of faith were experienced by both the missionary group and the members from the area who thanked all responsible for their labours of love and continuous support.
