Taking a stand against drug abuse

100_2421Bishop A Lutuli arranged for a drug awareness evening at the Lentegeur church hall on the evening of Monday 12 May 2009.

All parents and youngsters from the church and the community were invited to attend.
The bishop also invited guests from the Department of Social Welfare, South African Police Service and the Ward Counsellor for Mitchell’s Plain. This gathering was opened with a song and a prayer and immediately after that the bishop handed the program over to the program director.
All guest speakers urged the assembly of approximately 1100 to stay away from drugs and more especially from ‘Tik’. Every speaker could not emphasize enough the importance of abstaining from taking drugs. They pointed out how dangerous this evil is for the individual, as well as the community.
In concluding this evening all spoke in one voice for going back to the old norm of “your child is my child and my child is your child”.
