From 45 to 150 in five weeks!

_DSC2689When the first recorder lesson in Colorado district commenced there was a total of 45 Sunday school children present; all of them eager and ready to learn. District Elder Damonze, the resident district elder, found it fitting to invite all who might be interested in learning to play the recorder to come and join the already growing group. And within five weeks the total of recorder pupils grew to 150!

With so many enthusiastic recorder players developing into talented musicians it was only fitting that the talent in the district was showcased in style. For this reason the district elder invited the recorder players and Sunday school children to present musical items at the City Hall on Sunday 15 November 2009.

The recorder players dazzled the audience with complex arranged renditions of Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, Christmas in Cape Town and many more seasonal favourites. The success of the day was twofold as 150 pupils attended recorder classes and are now musically skilled, but also served as an inspiration to aspiring young musicians to join their ranks.
