Working together as a community
P relations 002It has long lived in the hearts of the members of Mandelaville District to bring all Christians together for one evening of praise and worship, and at the same time help to create unity within the community. To kick start the planning of such an event, invitations were sent to all churches in the surrounding area. It was warmly received with 7 churches accepting the invitation and joining the New Apostolic Church in preparation for the event that was planned for Friday 17 July 2009.
The event brought about great excitement in the community as there was much media coverage ranging from posters, banners, newspaper articles and the local radio station advertising it. As a result of this more than 800 participants arrived to join in the festivities on Friday 17 July 2000. Bishop T Nene was present and opened the proceedings with a prayer. What then followed was a true celebration of fellow Christians praising the Lord in song and music.
At the conclusion of the program all guests were invited to enjoy a cup of soup and “rooster brood” that was prepared by the sisters in the community. They are truly to be thanked for sacrificing their time and making the effort to do this. And so the first Mandelaville community praise and worship celebration came to an end. We hope it won’t be the last.
