When the visit of the District Apostle N Barnes to the congregation was announced it generated great excitement... among the congregants of the Devon Park congregation and leading up to the event it was the main topic of conversation. Finally, the day of the long awaited visit arrived and the preparations that had been made could be felt in the atmosphere of expectation that reigned in the church. The theme of the sermon on that Thursday evening of 23 April 2009 was: We will be known by the fruit we bear. The District Apostle reminded all present of the importance of allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our words and deeds. When this happens we will grow more and more in the image of Jesus Christ and portray the His character. The choir concluded the divine service on a heavenly note. The District Apostle then took time to greet the congregants paying special attention to the seniors and children. There was even an opportunity for some congregants to take a photograph or two with him. This memorable evening will now again be the topic of conversation for quite some time.
