Chief Apostle’s meeting with the Rectors in Silvertown

ca_meeting_with_rectors_1There was a reverent quiet noticeable in the Silvertown auditorium as the rectors of the greater Cape Town areas awaited the arrival of the Chief Apostle.
The dignified atmosphere was further underscored by the organ playing well-known hymns such as “Striving onward, pressing forward”. Then it was time for the Chief Apostle to take to the stage with those accompanying him. After the opening hymn and prayer the Chief Apostle addressed the attentive audience. He firstly thanked them for the task and responsibilities they fulfill as rectors and expressed the desire that they and their families experience the blessings that flow from this work in abundance. He also gave them some words of advice for their task in the form of the text word 1 Corinthians 16:13,14. The Chief Apostle elaborated on this by commenting amongst others that the rectors should watch over all those who work with them and assist them. They should watch over the organization within the congregation and that the basics of the faith are kept alive. In his message the Chief Apostle continued that the rectors should take courage to answer questions and be strong in the fellowship in the Spirit. Then it was the turn of the visiting District Apostle Helpers to address the rectors. Each one in his own unique way brought an interesting embellishment to the key thoughts brought by the Chief Apostle. Thereafter a Confirmand’s choir took to the stage to present a musical programme that was thoroughly enjoyed by an appreciative audience. This proved a fitting preparation for the Sunday morning’s divine service. After the closing prayer the Chief Apostle and those accompanying him undertook the arduous task of greeting each rector personally. What a satisfying encounter!
