just when we thought it was all over
It was Monday morning 6 April 2009 and the blessed events of the week-end with the visit of the Chief Apostle were being discussed. This was also the topic of conversation at the Church’s Administrative Office:
How quickly the visit of the Chief Apostle had come to an end. And then the e-mail popped up on screen: The Chief Apostle will be visiting the Administrative Office this morning! Never before had spring cleaning of such a nature taken place in such a short space of time. And never before had the work stations of certain individuals looked so neat and tidy and so well organized. When he arrived he stepped into the foyer with his characteristic cheerful smile and greeted those awaiting him. Those accompanying him could not resist a quick stop at the church shop – they had dollars to spend! Then there was a tour of the various departments from music to IT, registration, dispatch and building – commented on as being very friendly?! In each section the visitors greeted the staff and then listened with interest to an explanation of tasks and duties were performed. In the finance department, however, the focus of interest was more on the printed statements pasted on the walls – the content of which we cannot divulge in this report. All the personnel gathered in the canteen area where the hymns Bringing in the Sheaves and Come ye that love the Lord were jointly sung before the Chief Apostle prayed. In his closing words he wished all the staff well in their undertakings and asked them to take his best wishes to their loved ones. Before arriving at the Administrative Office the Chief Apostle had paid a visit to retired Apostle C Laubscher. Blessed moments were spent in the home of the retired apostle during this soul care visit.
