With unfavourable weather conditions prevailing in the city and a long road ahead of them a determined group of youth from Claremont district departed from Claremont congregation at 05:45 for a day trip to Citrusdal.
There they planned to bring joy to the hearts of the members in the area. After some twist and turns they arrived at their destination with a few minutes to spare before the commencement of the divine service in Citrusdal. The divine service was followed by fellowship during which musical items were rendered for the enjoyment of all. The day wasn’t over for the youth as they had two other stops to make, namely, the old aged home and the hospital. There they would bring some joy to the hearts of the residents with their singing. The matron of the old aged home couldn’t find enough words to express her gratitude for the sacrifices they had made to bring joy to the aged. She also commented: “It sounds like you’re singing with the angels in heaven”.
The experiences of this day live on in the hearts of the youth and the memories replayed in their minds as they made their way back to Cape Town.
