Children take up the fight with singing

SDC11153-640The Sunday school children of Silvertown district were invited to participate in an inter-denomination activity on Sunday 6 December 2009 at the Nantes in Bridgetown.

This event was dedicated to the community’s fight against drug and alcohol abuse as well as the scourge of crime in the neighbourhood. After their appearance at Nantes they boarded a bus which took them to St. Luke’s Hospice in Claremont.
The many guests at St Luke’s Hospice anxiously awaited the arrival of the children’s choir who planned to dazzle the crowd. The atmosphere was cheery and jovial with camping chairs, blankets and picnic baskets adding to the holiday feel of the gathering. The crowd was in awe of the angelic voices rendering one Christmas carol after another. To mark the arrival of Advent, the hundreds of lights on a huge pine tree were switched on to light up the dark night sky.
