On Sunday 21 March 2010 approximately 2,100 members from Silvertown Bishop Area walked through the entrance gate of Voortrekker High school with blankets and picnic baskets in hand for the Concert in the Park.
Camping out on the field was an array of members ranging from young to old, couples to families with little children and everything in between. The children were only too happy with the space in which they could run around. Echoing through the winding streets of Wynberg were the chords of the opening song, which captured the essence of international friendship: The World in union. This was also the cue for the Sunday school children who marched uniformly towards the stage to the beat of the music. Each child had a flag and a placard in hand, which showed an apostle and the country in which he is active. This allowed the members to familiarize themselves with names and faces of apostles who will grace our shores in the coming weeks. Guest artists, live bands and solo acts brought life and excitement to the playground normally filled with scholars. The crowd joined the children, dressed in traditional attire, as they concluded the programme with: We are the world.
