Vredenburg gets sweeter . . .

untitled3Siyabonga Care Centre is situated in Vredenburg along the West Coast and is a non-profit organization that caters for the needs of terminally ill patients in the area. Non-profit organizations rely on donations from the public to assist those they care for. At times financial circumstances result in there not being enough to cater for even the bare minimum. This was the case with the Siyabonga Care Centre.

The young people of Hanover Park district, who would be visiting Vredenburg congregation, were informed of the plight of the organization and how desperately they needed sugar. District Elder B Scholtz then requested of the youth to donate sugar that could be handed over to the Siyabonga Care Centre.

On Sunday 6 September 2009 a group of youth along with District Elder B Scholtz departed from Hanover Park at 06:00 for Vredenburg where they would attend a divine service before spending the rest of the day with the youth from that district. After the divine service the young people made their way to Siyabonga Care Centre where they donated 200 kilograms of sugar to the organization. The staff accepted the donation with much thanks and expressed their gratitude to the young group for so generously sacrificing their time for those less fortunate than they are.

Thereafter the youth from Hanover Park joined the youth group from Vredenburg district for a meal before engaging in fun-filled activities.
