Fun walk and family fun day for 2 bishop areas

IMG_7826On Friday 6 November 2009 Bishop C Classen held a conference at the Dennekraal conference centre to which all district ministries and rectors from Kensington bishop area were invited.

Already at 05:30 some of the organizers could be seen arriving at the rugby stadium where they prepared the stalls and set out refreshments for those who would participate in the first walk of the day. This was followed by two more walks at later times. The proceedings commenced with a prayer and a special welcome by Apostle C van der Merwe during which he wished everyone a most enjoyable day.

The fun walks were a tremendous success with approximately 4 000 members from various age groupings participating. With the arrival of summer and the thought of time spent at the beach as a motivating factor, many wanted to get back into the shape after a very cold and wet winter.

After the completion of the fun walks participants arrived at the rugby stadium where they were provided with treats and to their surprise found the stadium decorated with many stalls in a variety of shapes and sizes. Present on the day were, among others, Eskom Power, the Western Province Blood Transfusion Organization, and HIV and AIDS testing teams that provided information and created awareness.

In a tribute to International Mental Health Day, which is celebrated on 10 October, 250 red and white balloons were released with each of them containing the Church’s Mission Statement and the emblem as well as a short motivational message to anyone who may find it.

The day was concluded with the rendition of Majesty which was a favourite with the crowd. With a prayer and well wishes those who had gathered slowly made their way homeward to prepare for a blessed divine hour in their respective congregations the following day.
