Evening of good food and music, Cape Town district
It was an evening to remember! The theme was thanking our parents and how better to do it than with a supper and some Jazz music playing in the background.
The venue was St. Giles hall and the menu involved a light starter, curry as the main coarse and then some strawberry’s and ice cream to round the meal off.
For those involved in the planning it seemed like an impossible task as the mission was to provide a fun filled evening with acceptable food on a tight budget. This however had never been a deterrent before and it wasn’t about to become one.
The date was set for Sunday 27 August 2006 and the time for 18:00. The event was aimed at the parents - and we all know that parents take a traditional afternoon nap and then arise looking for something to do to end the weekend with. So we thought the timing was perfect.
On the evening everything went off as planned and the kitchen staff were hectically busy trying to keep up with the demands of the parents either wanting more food or dessert. This we took as a good sign.
The evening was then rounded off bidding farewell to our district youth co-ordinator, Clinton De Vries. He was set to jet off to New York for brighter prospects and will be sorely missed.
All in all it was a successful evening.
