On Saturday 19 July 2014, the youth of Lentegeur Bishop Area embarked on a charity soup drive to bring joy, happiness and warmth to the community.
The initial preparations began the previous evening, Friday 18 July 2014, at a G2G called “Master Soup Competition” where the youth battled it out to create the winning pot of soup.
The youth received various donations of perishable and non-perishables goods that were used to cook wholesome pots of soup.
In the early hours of Saturday morning the youth gathered at various planned points to distribute the warm nutritious meal. As soon as the young people arrived with steams of consolation, the people of the community gathered in their masses.
Feedback received was positive and rewarding with Nyanga and Manenberg hosting live entertainment. The atmosphere and willingness to assist the community was inspiring to each and every one present. They were living out the watchword: “It is better to give than to receive”.
