Two days of receiving in Jeffreys Bay

On Saturday 25 October 2008, the Palmridge Church hall hosted an hour of music which saw District Apostle N Barnes and most of the apostles and bishops of the Cape region as guests. The regional choir of the New Apostolic Church collaborated with the choir of the Mzamomhle Special School and performed musical renditions that were enjoyed by all in the audience. During the course of this music hour District Apostle N Barnes handed over a donation of R30 000 to the principal of the school. The following day, Sunday 26 October 2008, was yet another day of receiving – this time for the congregation of Jeffrey’s Bay district. This congregation was served by District Apostle N Barnes, who in his company had the same entourage as the previous day. An atmosphere of excitement could be felt in the church, but this feeling became more reflective for a while when the congregation stood as witnesses to the retirement of District Elder F Oliphant. At the end of the divine service, however, the congregation was left confident because of the comforting word that had been received.

A treat for opera lovers

Last night’s performance (Sunday 3 August 2008) of Opera Favourites in the Silvertown Auditorium was wonderfully entertaining. The rendition of popular arias and choruses from well-known operas by soloists, duets and the choir was much appreciated by an audience of over 1 400, which included the Premier of the Western Cape, Ms Lynne Brown, and many prominent individuals from the classical music fraternity.
