Soul care meeting for the ministers of Cape Town district

An inspirational, encouraging and motivational meeting for all priestly ministries and deacons of the Cape Town district was held on Tuesday 28 November 2006 in the Zonnebloem church. The presentation revealed some very interesting and shocking statistics, which have an impact on soul care.

Bishop Willougby again made the ministers aware of the significant saying: Members do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care. With this in mind those present were encouraged to be ready to serve at all times.

The meeting was concluded with a word of appreciation for the work done in the past and an appeal for a renewed commitment to assist in improving the current state of affairs. After the closing prayer there was time for some snacks and refreshments.

After the divine service they were addressed by the officiant who wished them well and share a word of encouragement with them.

Their confidence was also boosted by the promise that they would be remembered in prayer and have the full support of God's servants, their parents and guardians.

Moravian Hill Church in District Six 120 years old

On Sunday 24 September 2006 the Shepherd Kevin Scott, rector of Zonnebloem congregation, attended the 120th anniversary of the Moravian Hill Church in Zonnebloem, formerly District Six. It was a very special occasion as it was the first time that the congregation could gather in their old church building since 19 October 1980 when they were evicted due to the implementation of the Group Areas Act.

The service was led by the Reverend Elise Theunissen who based her sermon on a text out of Matthew 17 : 14 – 20, having faith as a mustard seed. Visiting ministers were asked to address the congregation. In his address the Shepherd Scott wished the congregation well and mentioned the importance of never forgetting the pioneers of the work.

District youth fashion show, Cape Town district

This Youth fashion show held in the St Giles hall in Mowbray and scheduled for Friday 30 June was an event not to be missed! The hall was packed to capacity with proud parents, excited spectators and energetic models. Music filled the air as the youth strutted their stuff on the catwalk, showcasing Cape Town's latest fashions in sportswear, casual wear and eveningwear.

A few playful surprise categories injected additional amusement into the proceedings: Cross-dressing had the audience in stitches as our male youth paraded in tight tops and even tighter skirts, while the rectors of the district made their runway debut as crime-fighting superheroes.
