The technique of learning revealed in Westridge
It was on the evening of Thursday 16 October that the Westridge District held a Study Methods informational session for those that were to write their final examination this year.
The matriculants came in the company of their parents to the Hazeldene Congregation where they found all set up in preparation for this presentation. Some guidelines and tips on how to prepare for the final examination were shared and all in attendance were seen jotting down a point or two from time to time. Being fearlessly positive, prayer, calmness and confidence were on top of the list as the main tips for a successful study period. Sister Sharon Adams, with the assistance of District Evangelist V. Fisher rendered this presentation.
Here’s hoping that our young brothers and sisters absorbed as much information in helping them with their final examination.
A lesson with all the fairies and dolls in attendance
Months of planning culminated in a beautiful day of learning for the Sunday school children of Blue Horizon Congregation on Sunday 21 September 2008.
Early on this Sunday morning the children and their teachers traveled to Klapmuts congregation for a divine service. Here they were welcomed by the rector of the congregation, Shepherd E. Adams. After singing from the visitors, the divine service commenced and upon its conclusion provision had been made by the Sunday school teachers of Klapmuts congregation for the visitors to enjoy a snack before heading off to the Fairy World for a Sunday school lesson in the open air.
After their lesson they were again treated to a snack courtesy of the owner of Fairy World, Mrs G. Arnikoff, and some provision by the teachers. This was followed by the tour of the hut where all the dolls and fairies are displayed and was the source of great delight for the young ones.
Thereafter the children relaxed and played games until it was time to return home. One would have expected them to be tired from all the traveling and playing, but the buzz on the journey back home told a different story. There was still much excitement in the air as they one by one left on their different paths home.
When two ends meet
The two groups of confirmands met at Dennekraal for the first time on the week-end starting from Friday 11 July 2008. Having traveled from the Malmesbury and the Westridge districts these youngsters had a full program ahead of them that had been arranged by the teachers. Early on the Saturday morning they were involved in group activities and later on participated in a training program on leadership, conflict resolution and most importantly knowing their faith.
Afterwards these youngsters were given ample time and opportunity to get to know each other through games and other exercises. All worn out and tired, they went to bed early in preparation for the divine service the following day. This divine service they attended at the Sir Lowry’s pass congregation after which they packed their bags and started out on their separate ways home. One thing is for sure, the friendships cultivated during this weekend will last for quite some time.
