Retirement of Priest Spinshoep

On Sunday 19 October 2008, Bishop G James conducted a divine service for the congregation of Ruyterwacht. During this service, the congregation witnessed the retirement of a man who had served them for several years, Priest J Spinshoep. Priest Spinshoep was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation from the congregation.

Priest Sili placed into retirement

Decades ago Shedrick Sili came – from the then Ciskei – to work in the Hex River Valley. It was also during this transition in his life that he found grace to become part of the Lord’s work. After being ordained as a priest, Sili proved to be an invaluable asset in the many years he served in the ministry. During the visit of Apostle W. Diedericks to the De Doorns congregation on Sunday 20 July 2008, Priest Sili was placed into well-earned retirement. He was presented with a bouquet of flowers from the congregation as a token of appreciation for his unselfish labours of love.

Community Evangelist Lassen of Walvis Bay retired

In the months prior to this, Community Evangelist CP Lassen was placed into retirement during a divine service conducted by Apostle JL Kriel in the Walvis Bay church building. Community Evangelist Lassen’s retirement came after decades of dedicated service to grow the Lord’s work. He was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciating for his unselfish sacrifices for the souls entrusted into his care.

 

Priest Jordaan’s retirement

During a divine service conducted by Bishop R Hardick in Hazeldene congregation on Sunday 24 August 2008, Priest P Jordaan was placed into well deserved retirement. He had served in the ministry for 32 years and ministered in the Westridge district. Priest Jordaan was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation for all his unselfish labours in the service of the Lord.

Deacon Manuel of Netreg retires

During a divine service conducted by Apostle JL Kriel in Netreg congregation on Sunday 20 July 2008, Deacon Arthur Manuel was placed into retirement. The congregation of Netreg stood to witness the retirement of the man that has been in their midst as means to caring for their souls for many years. Deacon Manuel was presented with a bouquet of flowers in acknowledging his unselfish efforts in being an exemplary leader to those entrusted into his care.

Deacon Odendaal retires

On Sunday 13 August 2008, the congregation of Belhar sat under the serving of Bishop S. Smith. During the course of this service the congregation witnessed the retirement of Deacon J Odendaal who had served in this congregation for many years. The congregation gave nods of approval as the bishop cited the diligence with which he had laboured and the sacrifices he had made in the execution of the Lord’s work. The deacon was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation for his unselfish serving of the congregation.

Deacon Petersen of Valhalla Park retires

During a divine service conducted by Apostle M Diedricks in Valhalla Park congregation on Sunday 15 June 2008, Deacon F Petersen was placed into retirement. Deacon Petersen served in the ministry for 13 years and is well- known for his zeal in testifying of the Lord’s work. He was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation from the congregation.

45 years in the ministry

Apostle J Stephens conducted a divine service for the congregation of Magnolia on Sunday 27 July 2008. During this divine service the Apostle placed Shepherd S Cecils into well-deserved retirement. Shepherd Cecils’s first ordination date was in November of 1963. Having served in a ministry for 45 years his day of retirement had come. For the past four years Shepherd Cecils has been the rector for the congregation of Lantana.

Hundreds witness the retirement of two great men

For the divine service of Sunday 27 July 2008, the congregation of Erica West was served by Apostle A Kriel. The apostle used a text word taken out of James 5:11 and based his sermon to the approximately 1 200 members that had gathered on this theme. During the divine service the congregation stood as witnesses as the apostle placed Elder B Worship, who had served for 34 years in the ministry, and Deacon Crombie, who had served for 30 years in the ministry, into retirement. During this divine service the congregation also experienced the ordination of 4 priests and the sealing of 24 souls.

A retirement and ordinations

Deacon S Van Niekerk was placed into retirement. This took place during a divine service conducted by Apostle A Kriel in Forest Village congregation on Sunday 13 July 2008. Deacon Van Niekerk originally served in the Stellenbosch area and continued his labours of love after he had moved to Forest Village. During this same divine service 8 deacons and 5 priests were also ordained.

Priest Clayton retires

Having been of service to the work of the Lord for most of his life, Priest D Clayton was placed into retirement during a divine service conducted by Apostle M Diedricks in Dunrobin on Sunday 1 June 2008. As a token of appreciation from all the congregations he served the priest was presented with a bouquet of flowers. Of the 44 years Priest Clayton has been in the ministry, 25 years he served as a priest.

Priest Davids retired

On Sunday 21 May 2008, Priest Alexander Davids was placed into retirement after 14 years in the ministry. Apostle M Arendse officiated at this retirement and presented the priest with a bouquet of flowers as a token of the appreciation from the congregation. This service was conducted by the apostle at Beverly Hills congregation in the Stellenbosch Bishop area.

Sub-deacon Braaf retires

During a divine service conducted by Apostle J Stephens for the congregation of Crawford on Sunday 6 April 2008, this congregation also witnessed the retirement of Sub-deacon Sydney Braaf.

Priests Langeveld and September retire

On the afternoon of Sunday 13 April 2008, Apostle M Diedricks conducted a divine service for the congregation of Fisantekraal. Apart from the great blessing experienced by the congregation on this occasion, two priests were placed into a well deserved retirement. The Priests Langeveld and September, who have served in the ministry for 63 years collectively, were thanked by the Apostle for their unselfish dedication in caring for the well-being of the souls entrusted into their care.

Priest Smith retires

After 22 years of ministerial duty, Priest NC Smith of Parow Vallei congregation was placed into retirement. Of late the Priest has not enjoyed the best of health and it was deemed advisable to remove the burden of ministerial duties from his shoulders. Bishop S Smith conducted a divine service in Parow Vallei on Sunday 30 March 2008 and placed the priest into retirement. Priest Smith was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of thankfulness from the congregation.

Deacon Du Plessis retires

On the evening of Thursday 27 March 2008, Apostle A Kriel conducted a divine service at the Highbury congregation in the Silversands district. During this service the Apostle placed Deacon JJ Du Plessis into retirement. Deacon Du Plessis has been of service in the Lord’s work for more than 20 years and has laboured in the Silversands district. He was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation from the congregation.

 

Priest Van Eyslend retires

On the afternoon of Sunday 10 February 2008, Apostle M Diedricks conducted a divine service in the Windsor Park congregation. During this divine service the apostle placed Priest G van Eyslend into retirement. Priest Van Eyslend has served in the ministry for 14 years and ministered in the Durbanville district.

Community Evangelist Boyes retires and celebrates 35 years of marriage

On Sunday 3 February 2008, Apostle A Kriel conducted a divine service in Brentwood Park congregation in the Kuilsriver Bishop area. During this service Community Evangelist E Boyes was placed into retirement. Coinciding with his retirement he and his wife, Brenda, also celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. The Apostle took the opportunity of congratulating the couple and wishing them everything of the best for the new era in their lives that they will now enter.

Deacon Williams retires

On Sunday 6 January 2008, Apostle C van der Merwe conducted a divine service in the Kensington South congregation. In this service the apostle placed Deacon W Williams into retirement. Deacon Williams had served in the Kensington congregation as a deacon throughout his ministerial tenure.

 

 

 

 

A retirement in Hazeldene

In a divine service conducted by Apostle B De Vries in Hazeldene Congregation on the evening of Wednesday 16 January 2008, Priest Jack Van Schalkwyk was placed into well-earned retirement. Priest Van Schalkwyk had served for 39 years in the ministry, 24 of which he served as a priest in the Westridge District.

 

 

 

 

District Elder Bethela retires

On Sunday 9 December 2007, District Elder LS Bethela was placed into retirement. In a service conducted by District Apostle N Barnes in the Tafelsig church for the Manenberg District and some Xhosa speaking congregations, the retirement of District Elder Bethela was witnessed. Brother Llewellyn Sipho Bethela was ordained into the sub deacon ministry in 1968 and has served as a minister for 39 years.
